Felt Bow Tie Pasta

In less than 5 minutes, I made 24 pieces of pasta. Super easy and I can't wait to see how they hold up against a two and half year old!

Cut a 1.5" felt rectangle. Trim edges with pinking shears.

Pinch felt and glue (or sew) together in the middle to form the shape.

More felt food to come...

Candy Cane Chocolate Hearts

Create a super easy treat using left over holiday candy canes!

Unwrap your candies and lay them out on parchment paper in the shape of hearts.

Melt chocolate.

Snap a shot of your adorable assistant.

Spoon the chocolate into the hearts. Be sure to get every nook. We opted to use colored sprinkles we had on-hand but I would've loved to top these with silver dragees.

A personalized message from Santa Claus

I found a super cute site called Portable North Pole. You answer a few fun questions about your child like name, age, state, something they have been good at all year and a gift they will be receiving for Christmas. Next upload a photo of him/her and the site puts together a personalized video from Santa.

My daughter was delighted (and shocked) when she saw Santa had a photo of her in his book. We've watched the video numerous times (seriously at least 10 times just today alone).

Holiday Cookie Exchange

Every year I host a cookie exchange. So in my quest to create something new and fabulous, I stumbled across Eleni's. Oh my goodness! I've died and gone to cookie heaven. These cookies are works of art and I think I'd feel guilty actually eating one of these beauties.

Do you have a favorite holiday cookie? A recipe you'd like to share?

I'm a California girl through and through (only touching snow twice in my life!). So I'm always envious when friends and family send holiday photos playing the snow.

Wouldn't this snowman kit be a cute gift for a child who will be building his/hers first snowman? And it can be re-used for years to come. Details at Make It Do

Gorgonzola Truffles

What a great new twist on the classic cheese ball. And when I saw the word BACON, I was sold. I'm thinking of pairing these with some sweet fruits to contrast with all the salty goodness.

Yield: Makes 6 appetizer servings

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (4-oz.) container crumbled Gorgonzola cheese
  • 2 teaspoons finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • Apple and pear slices
  • Grapes

Preparation

1. Beat first 5 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until well combined. Cover tightly, and chill at least 1 hour or until firm (can chill up to 3 days).

2. Roll cheese mixture into 3/4-inch-round balls. Roll each ball in bacon. Serve immediately, or cover and chill until ready to serve. If chilled, let stand 30 minutes before serving. Serve with apple and pear slices and grapes.

Candy Corn Bark

A fun Halloween twist to chocolate bark from The Idea Room.

Line a cookie sheet with tinfoil and place a layer of milk chocolate (or white chocolate chips) and melt in a preheated oven at 250 degrees for 5 minutes. Spread melted chips in a smooth thin layer. Place in refrigerator for 20 minutes till chilled. Then add your next layer of white chocolate. Melt the chips in the microwave for 20 second intervals stirring the chips between each turn. Let cool till warm but still spreadable. Quickly spread over first layer. Add candy corn and sprinkles and place back in the refrigerator to chill. Once chilled break into bite size pieces. Store in a tupperware container and keep refrigerated to prevent melting.

Candy Cornucopia

                                                                               {photo credit}
The perfect party favor for Thanksgiving dinner! Imagine a little cornucopia treat at each place setting.

Heat water in teakettle, and put pointed end of a sugar cone into spout. Let steam until softened, about 1 minute. Gently curve end 1/2 inch from tip; hold for 15 seconds. Steam 1 side of cone's open end; press to flatten (so cone won't roll). Let cool until set. Dip edge in melted white chocolate and roll in chopped pistachios.

Refrigerate until set. Fill with jelly beans and serve, or store in a container in a cool, dry place for up to 2 days.
